Quick answer: Alpha Base Premier Packs are Ortho Molecular's once-a-day packets that combine three formulas: a full 4-capsule serving of Alpha Base Caps without Iron, one Orthomega® 820 fish oil soft gel (430 mg EPA, 390 mg DHA, 50 mg DPA), and half a serving of the Resvoxitrol phytonutrient blend (200 mg turmeric, 115 mg broccoli seed extract, 50 mg trans-resveratrol, 30 mg andrographis). The dose is 1 packet a day with food, and boxes come in 30 or 60 packets. Because the multivitamin inside has no iron, the packs suit men, postmenopausal women and anyone told to avoid extra iron.
Reviewed by the clinical team at Holistic Health Partners
At 4:52 a.m. in a crew hotel off the Des Moines airport, Desmond Achterberg was on his knees with his phone flashlight, looking for a fish oil soft gel under the bed. The hotel van left at 5:15.
His seven-day pill organizer had popped open in the side pocket of his roller bag, which it did about once a trip, and Thursday through Sunday were now mixed together on the carpet. Desmond is 51 and has worked as a flight attendant for a regional carrier for nineteen years. He can brief an exit row in eleven seconds and refold a blanket to factory spec. He could not, it turned out, tell Friday's multivitamin from Saturday's on hotel carpet in the dark.
He already knew his routine had a leak, because he'd counted. His practitioner had put him on Alpha Base Caps without Iron and a separate fish oil the year before. At home he was perfect. On four-day trips, the honest tally was about two days out of four, between the early check-ins, the time zones and the capsules that rolled into places he didn't find until the next layover.
He made the van. On the first leg, during the climb, the senior flight attendant, Ines Paredes, tore open a small white packet at the jump seat, tipped it into her palm and swallowed it with the galley coffee nobody else would drink. “One packet a day,” she said. “One fewer thing to lose under a bed.” He had not mentioned the bed. Apparently it showed.
He photographed her empty packet and texted it to his practitioner from the Denver layover. The answer came back that afternoon: it was the same Alpha Base he was already taking (the iron-free version, which was the point for a 51-year-old man with normal iron labs), plus Orthomega 820 fish oil and a plant-compound capsule called Resvoxitrol, sealed together by the day. Fine to switch, she wrote, but finish or shelve the old bottles rather than taking both.
That was in March. Desmond does not claim to feel twenty years younger and is suspicious of anyone who does. What changed is the tally. The packets lie flat in the laptop sleeve of his bag, one per trip day plus two spares for weather delays, and his trip-day count went from about half to nearly all of them. The pill organizer is in a kitchen drawer. He has not opened it since.
A multivitamin only works on the days you actually swallow it. If your week involves suitcases, shift changes or a cabinet with too many bottles in it, here's what's inside Alpha Base Premier Packs, what each part does, and where the packet format comes up short.

What are Alpha Base Premier Packs?
They're daily supplement packets from Ortho Molecular Products that bundle three of the company's formulas into one serving: an iron-free multivitamin-mineral, a concentrated fish oil, and a phytonutrient blend. You take 1 packet a day, and the box holds 30 or 60 packets.
The three parts are:
- Alpha Base Caps without Iron, a full 4-capsule serving: 500 mg vitamin C, 1,000 IU vitamin D3, methylated folate as Quatrefolic® 5-MTHF, methylcobalamin B12, and Albion® chelated minerals including 200 mg magnesium and 10 mg zinc.
- Orthomega® 820, one soft gel: 950 mg total omega-3s as re-esterified triglycerides, including 430 mg EPA, 390 mg DHA and 50 mg DPA.
- Resvoxitrol phytonutrients: 200 mg Complete Turmeric Matrix, 115 mg TrueBroc® broccoli seed extract (13% glucoraphanin), 50 mg trans-resveratrol and 30 mg ParActin® andrographis.
The packet contains fish oil and gelatin, so it isn't vegetarian. The manufacturer states it has no gluten, yeast, or artificial colors or flavors.

Each packet also supplies vitamin A (2,250 mcg from beta carotene and palmitate), vitamin E (67 mg plus 50 mg mixed tocopherols), biotin, pantothenic acid, iodine (112 mcg), manganese, chromium (200 mcg), molybdenum, boron, inositol, rutin and choline.
What does each part of the packet do?
They cover three jobs at once: the multivitamin supplies the vitamins and minerals your metabolism uses as cofactors, the fish oil supplies EPA and DHA for cell membranes, and the phytonutrients support your body's normal antioxidant defenses. Here's what the research says about each piece, including where it's thinner than the marketing.
Why does the fish oil form matter?
Orthomega 820 uses re-esterified triglycerides, the form that absorbed best in a head-to-head trial. In a 2010 study of 72 volunteers who took about 3.3 g of EPA plus DHA daily for two weeks, EPA and DHA from re-esterified triglycerides were 124% as bioavailable as natural fish oil, while ethyl esters (the cheaper concentrate form) came in at 73%. One soft gel's 820 mg of EPA plus DHA is also why the formula carries that number in its name.
What do turmeric and broccoli seed extract add?
Turmeric adds antioxidant support with a solid body of trials behind it, and broccoli seed extract adds glucoraphanin, which your body converts into sulforaphane. A 2023 meta-analysis of 66 randomized trials in adults found that turmeric or curcumin supplementation raised total antioxidant capacity and lowered malondialdehyde, a marker of oxidative stress, along with markers of normal inflammatory balance.
Glucoraphanin itself is a stable, fairly inert precursor. Research from Johns Hopkins on sulforaphane bioavailability from glucoraphanin-rich broccoli describes it as a water-soluble precursor of sulforaphane, the active compound, and notes that how much each person converts varies from one person to the next and even day to day. That's why the label lists glucoraphanin content (13% of 115 mg) rather than promising a sulforaphane number.
Does the resveratrol in the packets actually absorb?
It's absorbed well but mostly converted before it reaches your bloodstream, so think of it as a supporting player, not the headline. In a human study of oral resveratrol, at least 70% of a 25 mg dose was absorbed, yet only trace amounts of unchanged resveratrol showed up in plasma because the gut and liver rapidly attach sulfate and glucuronide groups to it. The authors note those metabolites may still be active. The packet's 50 mg sits alongside the turmeric, broccoli seed and andrographis rather than carrying the formula alone.
How do you take Alpha Base Premier Packs?
Take 1 packet a day with a meal, or as your healthcare professional recommends. A 30-count box lasts a month and a 60-count lasts two.
- Pair it with a meal that has some fat. Fish oil and the fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) absorb better with food, and taking the soft gel with a meal helps with fishy aftertaste.
- Split the packet if swallowing it all at once is a lot. Half at breakfast and half at dinner is fine; keep the second half in a small closed container until the evening meal.
- Retire your other multivitamin and fish oil. The packs already include a full Alpha Base serving and a full Orthomega 820 serving. Doubling up pushes vitamin A, B6 and vitamin K higher than you need.
- Pack spares when you travel. The packets lie flat and need no organizer. Keep a couple extra for delays, the way Desmond does.
- Store them at room temperature. Skip any packet that's torn, punctured or unsealed, as the label instructs.
Who are Alpha Base Premier Packs best for, and who should skip them?
They're best for adults who want foundational vitamins, omega-3s and antioxidant nutrients in one step, and whose practitioner has confirmed they don't need supplemental iron. That typically includes:
- Men and postmenopausal women, whose iron needs are usually met by food
- Anyone whose practitioner has advised against extra iron
- Travelers, shift workers and anyone who misses doses when juggling several bottles
- People already taking Alpha Base without Iron and a separate fish oil who want to simplify
Choose something else if you:
- Need iron. Women who still menstruate, frequent blood donors and anyone with low ferritin may do better on Alpha Base Caps with Iron, paired with a separate fish oil.
- Are pregnant or nursing. The label says not to use this product while pregnant or nursing.
- Are allergic to fish. The omega-3s come from anchovy, jack mackerel, mackerel and sardine.
- Take warfarin or another blood thinner. See the interactions section below and talk to your prescriber first.

How do Alpha Base Premier Packs compare to buying the three bottles separately?
The packs give you the same multivitamin and fish oil doses as the separate bottles, but only half the standalone Resvoxitrol serving. What you're paying for is the convenience of one packet a day.
| Premier Packs | Three separate bottles | Alpha Base Caps with Iron | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daily serving | 1 sealed packet | 4 Alpha Base caps + 1 Orthomega 820 soft gel + 2 Resvoxitrol caps | 4 capsules |
| Multivitamin base | Full Alpha Base serving | Full Alpha Base serving, plus 50 mg potassium citrate | Same base |
| Iron | None | None | 15 mg Ferrochel® |
| EPA + DHA | 820 mg (430 + 390) | 820 mg (430 + 390) | None |
| Turmeric / broccoli seed | 200 mg / 115 mg | 400 mg / 230 mg | None |
| Resveratrol / andrographis | 50 mg / 30 mg | 100 mg / 60 mg | None |
| Sizes | 30 or 60 packets | Each bottle runs out on its own schedule | 240 capsules (60 days) |
| Best fit | No iron need; wants one step, especially on the road | Wants the full Resvoxitrol dose or to adjust each piece | Has an ongoing iron need |
The practical read: if your practitioner wants you on the full 2-capsule dose of Resvoxitrol, or wants to change your fish oil dose up or down, separate bottles give you that control. Alpha Base Caps without Iron and Orthomega 820 are each sold on their own, and our guide to Alpha Base without Iron covers the multivitamin in more depth. If your plan is just “take the foundation every day,” Alpha Base Premier Packs take sorting, counting and spilled organizers out of the routine.
Two small label differences: the packets list iodine as potassium iodide (the standalone without-iron bottle uses kelp) and don't list the standalone bottle's 50 mg of potassium. Neither changes who the packs suit.
Are Alpha Base Premier Packs safe, and what are the side effects?
For most adults without an iron need, one packet a day keeps every vitamin under its adult upper limit, but the vitamin K and fish oil mean anyone on a blood thinner should check with their prescriber first.
Vitamin K and blood thinners. Each packet has 50 mcg of K1 and 12.5 mcg of K2. The label states that all forms of vitamin K may interact with blood-thinning medications. If you take warfarin, keep your vitamin K intake consistent and don't start or stop the packs without telling the clinician who manages your INR.
Fish oil and clotting. The NIH omega-3 fact sheet says fish oil might raise INR when taken with warfarin, though most research at 3–6 g a day found no significant effect. One soft gel is well below that range, but your prescriber should still know you're taking it.
Digestive effects. Omega-3 supplements can cause fishy aftertaste, heartburn, nausea or loose stools, and NCCIH lists nausea, acid reflux and stomach upset among turmeric's possible effects. Taking the packet with a meal is the simplest fix.
Turmeric and the liver. NCCIH notes that conventional turmeric is likely safe at recommended amounts for 2 to 3 months, and that liver injury has been reported with some high-bioavailability curcumin products. Stop and call your provider if you notice dark urine, yellowing skin or eyes, or unusual fatigue with poor appetite.
Pregnancy and nursing. The manufacturer says not to use the packs while pregnant or nursing, and the separate Resvoxitrol label carries the same warning.
Vitamin levels. Vitamin B6 is 37 mg, under the 100 mg adult upper limit. Vitamin A is 2,250 mcg from beta carotene and palmitate, below the 3,000 mcg upper limit for preformed vitamin A. Both stay comfortable unless you add another multivitamin, which is the main reason not to double up.
As with any supplement, talk with your healthcare provider before starting, especially if you take prescription medications or have a chronic health condition.

Are Alpha Base Premier Packs worth it?
Yes, if you don't need iron and the main thing standing between you and your multivitamin is logistics. Alpha Base Premier Packs give you a full Alpha Base serving with active folate, B12 and chelated minerals, 820 mg of re-esterified EPA and DHA, and a half serving of Resvoxitrol in a packet you can drop in a bag.
They're the wrong pick if you need iron, if you're pregnant or nursing, if your practitioner wants the full Resvoxitrol dose, or if you'd rather adjust each formula on its own. In those cases, separate bottles or Alpha Base with Iron fit better.
Desmond now keeps a box at home and a stack of loose packets in his bag. On his last trip, a weather hold left the crew in a hotel in Bismarck for an extra night, and he had both spares with him. He texted Ines a photo of the empty packet with no caption. She sent back a thumbs-up.
