Methionine-200 from Biotics Research is a dietary supplement providing supplemental sources of the sulfur-bearing amino acids Methionine, Lysine, and Cysteine. Essential for human health, L-Methionine functions as a methyl donor, releasing a methyl group to support a variety of chemical and metabolic reactions in the body. In the liver, Methionine is converted to S-adenosyl methionine (SAMe). Strict vegetarians or individuals with low protein diets may require additional Methionine in their diet, and those of advanced age may also need a supplemental source as aging is associated with decreased Methionine sulfoxide reductase activities in various tissues. Methionine and cysteine protein residues are particularly vulnerable to oxidation by reactive oxygen species (ROS), which is also affected by age.** This product is unique in the marketplace, as it provides the benefits of these three sulfur-bearing amino acids in one dietary supplement.
