Basic Nutrients III (Citrate) [w/o cu & fe] 180c by Thorne
Basic Nutrients III?á(Citrate) [w/o cu & fe] by Thorne is an extensive multi-vitamin/mineral supplement, which delivers potassium, calcium, and magnesium as citrate mineral chelates. Citric acid does not only improve the absorption of mineral chelates but has potential benefits by itself. Citric acid is an important molecular intermediate in the citric acid cycle (a significant pathway for the production of cellular energy). Citric acid, similar to calcium, magnesium, and potassium, can inhibit the precipitation of phosphate and calcium oxalate in urine. This Thorne product also has a full complement of trace minerals with the exception of copper or iron, as well as a many easily absorbed vitamin co-factors.*

Warnings:
Some customers have noted that the multiple vitamin-mineral formulas have a strong odor. This is particularly noticeable to patients who have been taking the multiples long-term. The change in odor is due to the fact that we have (over the past year) changed from selenium picolinate to selenomethionine. While we believe selenomethionine is a superior form of selenium, it does have a bit of a sulfur smell, which is normal and does not reflect a problem with the product.

Folinic acid and 5-methyl-tetrahydrofolate supplementation is not recommended concurrently with methotrexate cancer therapy, as they can interfere with methotrexate's anti-neoplastic activity; however, these folate sources have not been shown to interfere with the anti-inflammatory activity of methotrexate. An individual taking methotrexate for psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis can safely take a supplement containing folate.
