Glucosamine (GS) is an amino monosaccharide produced in the body by the combination of glucose with glutamine, through the enzymatic action of Glucosamine synthetase. It plays an important role in the formation of articular surfaces, tendons, ligaments, synovial fluid, skin, bone, nails, heart valves, blood vessels, and in mucous secretions of the digestive, respiratory, and urinary tracts. Progressive Labs' G C 1000 contains glucosamine and methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), both of which have been found to have beneficial effects on the human body. MSM is important for the formation of healthy new cells and studies have shown that it can reduce pain and inflammation. Chondroitin sulfate, which is also included in G C 1000, stimulates cartilage production and inhibits enzymes that destroy it.
